ASI Users Seminar Scores a Perfect Strike

On September 17th and 18th ASI welcomed attendees to its 2008 Users Seminar in Cleveland, Ohio. This year's Seminar was packed with new information highlighting ASI's software enhancements and upgrades,

industry trends and sales and marketing techniques. I always enjoy the Users Seminar. It's a great opportunity to get our customers' viewpoints and input first-hand. Plus, it's a valuable way for customers to ask us questions in an open forum or one-on-one.

This year's educational agenda emphasized technology and trends shaping the records and information management industry. Along with the ASI presenters, we were fortunate to have three highly regarded industry professionals on-hand to share their knowledge. PRISM International Executive Director Jim Booth and NAID Executive Director Bob Johnson provided captivating perspectives on emerging trends shaping our industry, and sales and marketing guru Ray Barry shared his experiences with the top ten mistakes shredding operations make. I'd like to thank these gentlemen for being part of our event and providing attendees with excellent insight and information they can use in their day-to-day businesses. Other sessions with an eye on technology included: an in-depth presentation on our new VCK-SQL platform, which provided step-by-step instructions on converting from VCK to VCK-SQL; a session devoted to ASI Mobile, highlighting its mobile scanning capabilities; and an overview of the over 100 new Veri-Shred features slated to be released by end of 08.

I'd be remiss if I didn't comment on this year's evening event. Following this first full day, the ASI Team invited attendees to head over to The Corner Alley for a fun evening of bowling and networking. We tried our best to level the playing field amongst the bowlers, by introducing some rather unique bowling techniques.

Our bowling event cemented the fact that ASI Users know how to work hard AND play hard! I'd like to thank our over 60 ASI Users who attended this year's event. We enjoyed getting to know you better and hearing your ideas and thoughts on ways in which we can improve our solutions and services for your growing businesses. We look forward to implementing as many as possible, plus a few you may not have thought of, and sharing them with you at next users seminar.

Veri-Shred Appreciation Purchase Program in Effect

As a company, ASI is a strong supporter of our industry's representative associations, PRISM International and NAID. We also like to support and encourage records centers and shredding companies to be part of these valuable organizations.

Our latest program reflects ASI's continued active support of the RIM industry’s leading trade associations and their members. Effective October 1st, 2008 through December 31st, 2008, any PRISM International or NAID member who selects Veri-Shred software for their businesses can save 20%.

“ASI’s Veri-Shred Appreciation Purchase Program for PRISM and NAID members is our way of recognizing those company members who share our interest in supporting and promoting the RIM industry and its representative associations,” says ASI President and COO Scott Bidwell.

Bidwell states further that it is important for current members to continue this support and promote membership in PRISM International and NAID to other organizations.

“The savings gained through this incentive can be used toward any number of expenses, but we hope the company purchasing Veri-Shred will invest it in next year’s membership dues in PRISM or NAID,” says Bidwell.

What's Coming? ASI Web Services

The ASI Web Services portal is on the horizon. We touched upon it during the Users Seminar and will share more as development continues. The Web Services portal will include fresh and innovative tools focused on remote operations. For example, a remote user (such as a driver) equipped with a mobile handheld device will be able to communicate to the base operation via the Internet. The next version of Veri-Shred and ASI Mobile 3.0 will employ the Web Services option to transfer job orders to the warehouse/office, so that, in effect, a driver can leave the warehouse on a Monday and return on Friday. In essence, the portal is the "operator" directing the "traffic" of your business. Of course, while technology is moving forward at a rapid pace, we have to be thorough in developing technology-driven tools for business. It's an evolution,
but one that will be well worth the wait and investment in technology.

Notes from Budapest

There’s something about traveling overseas that makes you feel like part of something bigger.  Actually, there are many things.  As a typical American, I am often guilty of failing to see beyond our borders.  I try to convince myself that I’m not, but it’s difficult with two large oceans blocking my view on either side. 

There was something about the Joint PRISM/NAID European Conference in Budapest, Hungary this past September that made me feel like part of something bigger as well.  I have often marveled at the sense of community I witness when attending the PRISM and NAID events in the States.  The same could be said of that feeling in Budapest this year, only on a global scale.  We are fortunate to be part of such a congenial group of people.

It was a pleasure to meet and really get to know folks from the host country Hungary, as well as Romania, Bosnia, Italy, Denmark, Israel, Spain, Ireland and the UK (to name a few) and discuss their experiences in the industry.  And while technology certainly has its place in our industry, there is no technology that can replace the face-to-face and Budapest, “The Pearl of the Danube,” was a wonderful and intimate setting.  Kudos to the folks from PRISM and NAID for their organization!  It was well worth the trip.
